What happened
Men identifying themselves as Political Security agents arrested student Abdul-ilah Saylan outside a Sanaa café on 18 August 2015, then searched his family home. The family was denied visits during periods of detention.
Relatives told Amnesty International they saw guards beat him in February 2016 until he bled and fainted. Amnesty examined a release order dated 7 October 2015, but he remained detained without charge when its May 2016 report was published.
